Improving Outlook for 2010, Kantar Retail Forecasts

Retail sales are on the path to recovery.  Retail Forward, a Kantar Retail Company, forecasts that retail sales will improve this year quarter by quarter as positive reports in the housing and job markets bolster shoppers’ confidence.

In 2009 Retail Real Estate Industry Delivered Lowest Amount of Space in 27 Years

In 2009 the retail real estate industry delivered 79.5 million square feet of new space according to the CoStar Group Inc.’s National Retail Market report.  This is the least amount of new construction in CoStar’s records.

Kohl's Department Stores Achieves 100 Percent Green Power

Kohl’s Department Stores announced that the company has purchased enough green power to meet 100 percent of its purchased electricity use.  Kohl’s increases its ranking to no. 2 on EPA’s quarterly list of top green power purchasers and retains the no. 1 spot in retail.

New supermarket opens in Reading

Fine Fare Supermarket opened a location at 200 W. Buttonwood Street in Reading, PA.  Fine Fare is a chain of about 50 stores with locations in New York City, New Jersey and two in Philadelphia, PA.

Delaware growth: Quiet oasis near Odessa could soon be bustling

Huber’s Crossing will be located on 25.4 acres between Pole Bridge & Bayview Roads.  The developer has plans for a grocery store and more than a dozen smaller stores, a bank, two restaurants and fast-food eateries.
